About RISE
At DCPS, when we empower our people, our students thrive. RISE — Rigorous Instruction Supports Equity — works to support and invest in DCPS teachers, assistant principals, and principals at RISE schools.
This significant investment builds on our work over the last decade that has included:
-
Establishing the highest starting teacher salaries in the nation;
-
Building a career ladder that empowers teachers and leaders to plan their career trajectories;
-
Ensuring clear expectations on how what teaching and learning looks like in DCPS schools;
-
Providing a rigorous curriculum and scope and sequence;
-
Providing aligned support and professional development through LEAP;
-
Celebrating our teachers and leaders at Standing Ovation;
-
And more.
At its core, RISE provides professional development and learning opportunities to teachers, assistant principals, and principals at our highest need schools.
RISE Schools
At DCPS, we work to promote equity, eliminate opportunity gaps, and systematically interrupt institutional bias. That’s why we identified the DCPS schools that received a 1- or 2- STAR rating on the DC School Report Card as RISE schools.
Teachers, assistant principals, and principals can access additional resources through professional development and performance-based compensation at the following RISE schools:
