RISE

RISE — Rigorous Instruction Supports Equity — was a Department of Education TSL grant from 2020-2023 that worked to cultivate, support, and invest in DCPS teachers, assistant principals, and principals at RISE schools.

At its core, RISE was about honoring educators as professionals and providing opportunities to learn and grow.

The RISE grant ended September 30, 2023. The work of recruiting, retaining and developing DCPS' teachers and leaders continues within DCPS' Central Office. If you have a question about RISE, please see below:

RISE Educators

Ensuring that our best educators are in RISE schools.

  • RISE Speaker Series (SY2022-2023)

  • RISE Summer Conference Series (Summers 2022 and 2023)

  • Exploring Leadership Workshop Series (SY2022-2023)

  • Microcredential Opportunities (SY2020-2021, 2021-2022)

  • RISE New and veteran Educator Networking Opportunities (SY2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023)

RISE Bonuses

Signing Bonuses

At DC Public Schools, we believe that talent is a key lever for equity. Aligned with this belief, RISE enabled DCPS to offer signing bonuses in SY2022-2023 and SY2023-2024 to teachers joining our highest need schools in specific high-need content area.

RISE Effective Educator Bonus

This pilot bonus incentive supported growth for DCPS teachers at RISE schools by providing a bonus for classroom teachers who are moving along their LIFT stages and continuing their professional growth at our highest need schools. Like LIFT, this program is about recognizing teachers as professionals and investing in educators in our schools.

All RISE bonuses were funded through the Department of Education's TSL grant, which ended September 30, 2023. If you were a RISE educator from SY2020-2023 and have questions about bonuses, please contact Ryan Turgeon.

RISE Assistant Principals and Principals
